CANNES GALA ×DANRYU CRAFT

In 1895, beneath the streets of Paris,
the Lumière brothers unveiled motion pictures to the world, marking the dawn of cinema. Over the past 130 years, this vibrant art form has brought hearts and cultures across the globe closer together.

Around the same time, in 1882, Kamimura Distillery was founded in the Hantagawa district of Naha City in Okinawa, a small island far to the east of France.

As a maker of Okinawa’s traditional spirit ‘Awamori’ with over 600 years of history, Kamimura has carried on the heritage of a drink that unites people.

These two legacies meet at the CANNES GALA in France this year.

Among filmmakers and cultural luminaries from around the world, Kamimura’s ‘DANRYU CRAFT’ will be served as a symbol of Okinawa, deepening the emotional resonance of cinema.

As we celebrate 130 years of film and 143 years of Kamimura Distillery, we honour this meaningful convergence across time and oceans.

With heartfelt gratitude, we say kanpai (cheers) to the paths we have travelled and the ones that lie ahead!
